It's do or die now

Albert_1Losing Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Wednesday night was tough. I'm trying to put it into words. We definitely feel like we didn't fail in any way; we just came up short.

On Thursday, obviously, there is a Game 7. It started out as a best-of-seven. Then it became a best-of-five, and a best-of-three, and now it's just a best-of-one-series. Whoever comes up victorious is the NL champ. We've got to come out here and focus and execute the little things.

We're looking forward. We're not looking behind us. We're just staying positive. That's what we have to do.

I've never been in a Game 7 before, and it's going to be a dream come true -- just like for the other guys who haven't been in the postseason or haven't been in a Game 7 before. It's going to be an experience that you can't explain unless you're here. It's going to be very exciting.

Even though most of us won't be there, just remember that cardinal nation is behind all of you guys all the way!!!
Go J-Rod! Go Cards!

We love you guys! You have made us proud!

Dear son:

Your family, friends, Mrs Santiago, her elementary school students and I want you know that We will be watching and cheering on the Cardinals when they play game 7. Everyone one is very proud of you and can't wait to see you play in the World Series. So let's go Cardinals and win game 7.

Love you more Mom

Cardinals are #1

J-Rod, Cardinal Nation is behind you guys all the way. Jeff Suppan is a big game pitcher, and he's up to the challenge. Positive thoughts, because anything negative in that clubhouse will lead to a loss. Stay confident, you and your teammates have done something very special, and it will only continue in Game 7. GO CARDINALS!

J-Rod,
We are all behind you! Suppan is a big game pitcher and will get it done. The Soup is on fire!

Dear Son

I left out the word (to) in front of the word (know), because I have been trying to type and talk on the phone at the same time. I received over 20 calls since game 6 started. All the calls were from your Fans whom are very proud and can't wait to see you in the world Series. That's what they told me to tell you.

Love you more Mom

good luck boys. it's not over untill that final 9th inning out. you almost proved that tonight. i hope you guy's just go out there and have fun. why stress through what could be the last game of the season for this team? go out there, have fun, know that you guy's have a city full of fans that are going to love you no matter what happens. if you win we celebrate with you. if you loose than we definetly cry with you too. please just have fun as a team. who knows where everyone will be next year. have fun, stay positive, and if i could give you all big hugs i would.

Hey J-ROD

Yes I agree with you 100% stay positive John because it's not over until the fat lady sings and she hasn't begun singing yet but tomorrow she will be tuning up for the Mets. Good luck tomorrow J-ROD and

GO CARDS!!!!

J-Rod,
Thanks again for taking the time to do the daily blog as I have enjoyed reading your entry and all the comments.

Good luck to you all as you just need to play your game and come out swinging. Score early, score often and have some fun too.

GO CARDINALS!!!

Game 7. It's what you probably always dreamed of as a kid. Calling the play by play with your friends, "Rodriguez comes up to the plate, it's game 7, bases are loaded. It's do or die folks. The pitch, the swing, Rodriguez blasts one deep, deep, back ,back, it's over the wall. Grand Slam for Rodriguez. The Cardinal's are going to the World Series. Go crazy folks. Go crazy!" Well, maybe not exactly like that, but it could happen. Good luck to you and the team. I was at the stadium Tuesday cheering you on, and I'll be just as loud from my couch tonight. I'm not nervous, just excited. See you in Detroit.

Big J,
Let's do it here, baby! I am thinking maybe you guys should throw the football again in the clubhouse to loosen everyone up like you did on Monday during the rainout. Like BOYCARDNL said on here, shake out anything negative. If you stay positive anything can happen. Even if you are down like you were last night, it doesn't matter. Who thought the Bears would come back from 20-0 on Monday night? Probably the same people that think the Cards can't win this series and make a date with Detroit. Much Love!

Cardinals For Life!

JW

John, I know we'll get thing tonight. There is alot riding of Soup's shoulders but with your alls help we can get this thing closed out.
Go Cards!! Can't wait to see you in Detroit

John, Let the team know there a millions at home and bars watching and supporting you guys and believing that you guys can go all the way. All of us have been wearing red for weeks in your honor. We believe in you! Remember how So hit that homer to elevate you all and Albert too! Just play small ball on these guys. We have not given up out here for you!! We know you can do whatever it takes to get to the big show. Think Positive. Dreams become Miracles when you believe!!

John,
Please let Albert know he has our deepest sympathy on the death of his uncle. It can't be easy for him to try and play during such a hard time. Also, let him know that Bryan Burwell does NOT speak for most Cardinal fans - we appreciate what Albert and the rest of the team are doing and wish you the best of luck in game 7. The only question is do we start So Taguchi or keep him as a pinch hitter to silence the crowd late in the game:)

See you in Detroit:)

John, from one Cardinal to another (my last name is Cardinal), ya'll just put on a show tonight!! I have Cardinal Birds thoughout my house and I go though and rub each one of their heads prior to any game.... I'll do what I have to do and ya'll do what you've gotta do!!! We'll be here in STL waiting for one of ya'll to drill one...deep!! Good luck and we love ya guys!!!!!

You guys are awesome. Work hard today, take it one pitch, one run, one catch at a time, and everything will fall into place. You guys have a great team and a great desire to win. I'll be watching!

I know you would have loved to finish it off last night, but my 6 year old is so excited he gets to stay up late and watch you win tonight!! He is out of school on Friday and really pumped to watch the game tonight. No matter what the outcome you will still be the best team. Not only for the things you do on the field but off as well. Go get 'em tonight!!! Best of luck to all of you!!! We love ya all!!!

Yo Joebu.
Larvagirl Just Gave Me The Crazy Chills Lol. I Will Be Rooting For You To Make It To The World. I'll Be Watching Til About The Seventh Inning Because I Have To Go To Work. Jay I Got Rick Peterson Staying In My Job In A Sublet Apt. He Was The One I Found Out From When He Walked In With A Smile. (Ptk Growls) Tonight I Want To Be The One Smiling Knowing That The Cardinals Got Rid Of An Old *** Grouch Staying Where I Work.. And A Friend I Know Makes It To And Wins The World Series Too.

Stay True To Your Fans Man & Always Smile..

JRod,

You guys hang in there and know we die hard Cards fans are cheering for you. We love are CARDS and are so proud of how far you all have come. Give it your all tonight and bring it home!!! LOVE THEM CARDS!!!!!

John, I didn't give up hope last night and I'm not giving up tonight. My husband and I were watching the game at home with our Cardinal gear on and rally towels waving --- and we are doing it again tonight. Our Cardinals have been awesome in the clutch all year and this time is no exception. Keep them pumped up and motivated, John. Tell them the Cardinal Nation is cheering them on. Remind them of the sound of Game 5 and how the stadium was rockin'...Good Luck tonight --- Luv ya guys!!! ;)

JROD,

Don't give up, keep your heads held high and show them how we do it in STL. Stay loose and go out there and have fun. We love you guys no matter the outcome. Bring us home another pennant for the Cardinal Nation. Good Luck tonight. THAT'S A WINNER!!!!!

John, WE BELIEVE IN THE CARDINALS!!! Have fun out there guys and it will all come together. We drive a truck all over the great USA and each night we are finding a place with your game on so we can follow our beloved Cards. You have so many fans everywhere we go. We want Jim Edmonds to know we appreciate every single catch he makes whether we are winning at the time or not! He's awesome! The sacrifices this team makes to play great baseball do not go unnoticed. We Love Our Cardinals.!!! Good luck guys. Now take it all the way!

JROD
You guys have to do it tonight. Just think, no matter how loud New York is tonight we are in St. Louis and all over Cardinal Nation yelling at our TV twice as loud. The only reason many of our TVs aren't broken is that there is still hope. Most of us want this as much as the team. We have watched and cheered for the Cardinals since the day we were born! I'll be cheering at Busch 3 next week when you guys come back home! Never Say Die! Go Cards!

J-Rod,
You and the Cardinals are the BOMB!!!! Now go out there in Game 7 and Kick some POND **** BUTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's Do or Die- That's the only way it is going to be!! Here is your chance to get your team in spirit and in one force to never regret any play about tonights game! I so bad wish I was there on the side repping it for you guys~ Nobody can explain the way it feels to be out there in your shoes, but I can sooo imagine. Take this one! Take this one! Never regret a play and give it your all. This is DO OR DIE. -Jamie-

This is our night. This is the reason you boys play Major League Baseball. The excitement of game 7 and your opportunity to play in the World Series. Cardinal fans everywhere are cheering for our beloved Redbirds!!! GO CARDS!
Kim

J-Rod
First, I have to say your mom's comments are soooo cute! I know you guys will get it done tonight! Stay positive and go get them! Thanks for always thinking of your fans and keeping smiling!

Your #1 Fan

Monique

Hey Johnny Boy, It's so close I can almost taste it. I've only been alive long enough to see the red birds in the world series once in 2004 but I would like to see another trip just believe and have fun because as long as we win everything will be ok I love the cardinals and everything about the team and I will be watching every pitch tonight tell the boys we are with them and tell them its not over til its over and that all of us in cardinals nation will be watching good luck and get those mets-Josh

J-Rod,

Just wanted to let you know you have two die-hard Cardinal fans behind the team in New York. We have been to all the games out here supporting the team. I can't wait to see the Cardinals win tonight at Shea and celebrate in the stands. GO CARDINALS!!

J-Rod,
Let's go out there and Paint the town "RED"! We're cheering you on! YOU CAN DO IT! WE BELIEVE!! 7 is our lucky number. GO CARDS!!!! :0)

J-Rod,

When I read that you guys packed for Detroit I decided to get ready for the World Series too! I went to the Team Store and bought a new Card's jacket, a lanyard for my souevenir tix and my red soul patch is ready to go! I know you guys can do it!

Karen

Go get 'em. But remember to keep things in perspective, that even if you don't win tonight, you as well as many others in that clubhouse, already are partakers in the greatest victory and that is knowing Christ as your Lord and Savior. Bring Him the glory!

LETS DO THIS, GO CARDINALS

J-Rod,
Just wanted to say Good Luck to you and the Cardinals.Just do your best thats all us Card's fans are asking!!

-Rikki- (From out in he sticks Mo)

J-Rod,
Just wanted to say Good Luck to you and the Cardinals.Just do your best thats all us Card's fans are asking!!

-Rikki- (From out in the sticks Mo)

1)GO CARDS!!! We want a win tonight so we can see you guys play 4 more games. (That's all it takes to win the World Series!)
2)I read what your mom wrote a few days ago and just cried! Only a mother can understand the love of her son and she obviously feels about you the way I do about Ian. She deserves a pat on the back for raising such a kind and respectable man.

3)Know that Ian and I have prayed for the team before each post game and then we have to go through and God Bless every single player. Rest assured, we will be saying our 10 minute long prayer very soon today. God has a plan for this team and we support it all the way.

Good luck tonight and take it all the way!!

Yo Man- We have the advantage tonight, not the Mets. We Have Suppan pitching and they have the pitcher with the highest ERA in postseason history going for them. We have the best hitter in Baseball. We have the experience. We have the class, and we most definitely have the greatest fans around. Cardinals are the illest! God Bless homie- and Go Red Birds!

JRod,

Last night wasn't a bad game! We just weren't 100% on. We knew this was going to be a fight. It's been a fight all season, but that's what this Cardinals team is all about. When we have to win, we win, and I know that's how it will go down tonight. Whatever happens, it's been another great Cardinal season! With Supp on the mound, I'm feeling good. I know that tonight will be a great night for the Cardinals!

We love each and every one of you guys, and you've made all of Cardinal Nation very proud. Keep up the good work, and we'll be heading to the World Series on Saturday!!! GO CARDS!!!

One thing to point out that ball players should remember all year long is..... when you are in another teams ball park and you are down and their crowd is going crazy...just act like you are in St. Louis and it is CARDS fans that are going crazy. Just think, they aren't cheering on their pitcher, they are cheering you on at the plate (even though their not). It is all psychological and you need to make it all work in your favor. Pass it on to the team - it may look like New York, it may feel like New York but let your mind tell you that the crowd is cheering just like ST. LOUIS and feel the love (via the bad guys) and WIN #7 for all your fans.

I have to say, I was on the edge of my seat the entire night. It was a great game!
Clutch hitting just wasnt there. But thats ok. weve been to game 7 the last two years in a row so why should this year be any different?

Houston was a better team last year and they deserved to go, however I dont feel the same about the Mets and I feel the Cardinals will perservere in the end.

GIT ER DONE!!!!!!!!

Scott

You CAN do this. You WILL do this. These are my words for you boys. 2 years ago I was in STL watching you play Houston, a game won by Jimmy Edmond's home run. Soon after that game I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer....last summer and fall I had two major surgeries to remove the tumor and check to see if the cancer had spread. It had not. I celebrated and watched my cards again. But my battle was not won. Earlier this year I went through 3 rounds of chemo and was declared cancer free in April. Battle won. My Cards come out smokin' and what a great life. Two days ago, I had my 6 month check up, I'm still cancer free. Boys, this is my time, this is your time. The relevance is that for the past two years we both have struggle in the post season, and now we are both here, healthy and free to go wherever God leads us. Have faith in that. Believe in that. YOU CAN DO IT. I am only 32 years old and I've fought a battle I never thought I would win, but I did it for my daughters. When you're up there tonight, think of me and think of all of us strugglers that have fought these battles, been scrappy and made it, and show us what we already know - you are CHAMPIONS!! Love you guys!!
Christine

Hello to you and all the guys from Richmond VA!

John, you are going to the World Series-I am wearing my Cardinal shirt to work today-lots of people are pulling for you. We are proud of you guys-go get 'em!

Even without a win last night, it was still a great game. You tried to give the Mets a run for their money in the 9th! As far as tonight, definitely focus and execute, but don't forget the most important part - HAVE FUN!! Don't put too much pressure on yourselves. It's a BLAT to watch you play, so remember to enjoy every minute of game 7. Just go out their and play Cardinals baseball. Show everyone at Shea what that's all about...and have fun with it! You are OUR champions already!!

Thank you so much, John, for such a wonderful blog. Maybe this will be the night for you - in front of your family and friends - I'm pulling for you!

GO CARDS!!!!!

I'll be watching every minute of game 7 cheering the Cardinals on! I'm a misplaced fan (currently living in Philadelphia) but grew up in St. Louis... LOVE you guys! I know you will do great tonight. Good Luck!

C'mon guys. Enough drama already. Seriously, this should be a great game and we know you guys are up to the task. Just stay focued and above all, have some fun. As we say here in Arkansas, CARPE DIEM, Y'ALL.

My entire family (all 14 of us) have watched every game of this season. Some on the TV and some at the new Busch. We never give up on the Cardinals, and you guys shouldn't give up either. I know this team can win it! Like you said John...just tighten up the defense, stay tuned into the small things, see and hit the ball well...and Cardinal Nation will explode with pride and joy!

I have so much faith in you guys that you will win tonight. You guys are a great time and you deserve it. Just keep you head up high and pray to win. Suppan will do great tonight and completely shut down the mets. Let's get our offense started and win. I will be watching every second tonight. You guys will do just fine, GOOD LUCK!!!.
Love you all

For all the New York fans that will be cheering on their team tonight, just remember there are just as many Cardinal fans somewhere that will be cheering a little bit louder and praying a little bit harder for you guys to bring another series home to St. Louis. We believe in all of you and we know that you guys can and will bring this one home to us.

GO CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

J-Rod,
All of us Cardinals fans in St. Louis and across the world believe in this team. You guys can and will win this. Just play the game the way we've seen you play all season. And just remember that no matter how loud it is at Shea, it is louder back home in St. Louis. You guys have made all of us in Cardinals Nation proud. Good luck, God Bless, and GO CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

J-Rod,

First I want to thank you for taking the time to do this blog each day. It really gives us fans an idea of what is going on in the clubhouse before, during and after the games. I know this team will pull it off tonight. We have had our backs up aganist the wall on and off this year with injuries and pitching issues and always find a way to make something happen in the end to get the win. We have a big game pitcher in Suppan tonight, the last time he pitched in a game seven he went out and we ended up in the world series. You guys stay positive keep your heads and and play the kind of ball we all know you can. Good Luck tonight!!!!!! We will see you aganist the Tigers on Saturday.

Cardinals Nation is behind you. Win or lose, I'm a loyal fan forever! This could be our year! Good luck! NL CHAMPIONS OR BUST!!!!

Let's go out there and play our hardest. Hopefully we can beat the Mets but if we don't then I am still a loyal fan and we had a really good season this year no matter. Thanks for doing this blog everyday. It gives us an idea about what is going on. Also it was very nice meeting you way back in August at the opening of the new team store. Let's go out there and win tonight cuz this is the year to go all the way.

I LOVE YOU CARDINALS BUT WITH ALL DO RESPECT:

"Rolen you ****. I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR SHOULDER JUST LOOK IN FRONT OF YOU AT JIM EDMONDS. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO CAUSE ANY DRAMA IN THE CLUB HOUSE IGNORING LARUSSA LIKE A LITTLE CHILD. IT'S TEAM FIRST AND YOU SECOND. YOUR GLOVE IS WHY YOU ARE EVEN IN THERE TO BEGIN WITH AND THAT FAILED YOU LAST NIGHT. YOU SHOULD BE ON THE BENCH WITH SPEZIO ON THIRD AND CLUTH TAGUCHI IN LEFT. BUT BECAUSE OF YOUR CRYBABY ANTICS YOUR WEAK BAT IS GOING TO CAUSE US THE SERIES. THANKS AND WE WON'T BE SEEING YOU NEXT SEASON. GO CARDS. GROW UP ROLEN

Good call LaRussa. Not starting Spezio. It's played out awesome so far especially just now in the third inning. Love having a lead off double but still some how have the inability to even advance him to 3rd. It's sad. You are washed up. Thank God the A's skipper is available

have respect for rolens. he's getting ready to retire. he had a good run this season. he's part of cardinal history. let him have this glory of playing in the playoff's. he and edmond's wont be in the game much longer. they both deserve this. if we win, we win. if we loose, we loose. there's alway's next year for us fans. can't say the same for the players.

Good call again LaRussa starting Wilson. You have to get a person in the game somehow who has contriuted so much. AGAIN SPEZIO. You SAY you started Wilson because he can hit against lefties.

HERE IS A NEWS FLASH: SPEZIO IS A SWITCH HITTER.

How many more times must Wilson choke and strike out before you put Spezio in the game. It's too late. damage is done. How many runs might have scored with Spezio in? Maybe 0 but at least you could walk away knowing you put the best in. You did not and you have to live with that no matter what the outcome of the game is

Wilson you are a ******* piece of ****

wilson is building himself up to hit a big run. just calm down dude.

wilson is setting himself up to sit on the bench finally. You are a hero Molina. YOu are a stud. God bless you. an as for you RITE:

honestly tell me you are happy with wilson getting the start and having Spezio or Taguchi out of the starting lineup. Don't bs me and don't kid yourself

Let's go guys... the Cardinal Nation stretches all the way up here to the Pacific Northwest. I was born in 82... I want another win!!! GOOOO CARDS.

YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

LIKE HOW YOU RAN FROM THE INTERVIEW WHEN ASKED ABOUT LARUSSA ROLEN. GROW UP. WAY TO GO CARDS. KEEP THAT TOUGHNESS IN THE WORLD SERIES. YOU ARE FIGHTERS. YOU DESERVE THIS. NOT THE FANS BUT YOU.

U guys knew it was Do or Die and you did it!!!!!Congratlations!!!!! What a tough tough game...stayed soo focused. That's the way...you were victourious so now take the Victory.. Never let up. I lost my voice- ~Jamie~

WTG......CONGRALATIONS....YOU GUYS PLAY A VERY GOOD SERIES. DO THE SAME IN THE WORLD SERIES...FANS FROM il are routing for you once my hat goes off to all of the cardinals guys

I cannot believe it!! I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!! This was one of the most intense, nail-biting games I have ever seen!! WE ARE IN THE WORLD SERIES!! OHHHHHH BAAAAAABBBBYYYYYYYY!!!!!

I was at the NLCS Games 3 and 5 a few days ago, and I saw how Suppan was pitching and everyone was playing. I knew we had a great chance at this!! You have no idea how proud I am of you guys, and most importantly, I am proud to be a Cardinals fan!!

The only thing that was missing was a stadium full of crazzzzy Cardinals fans to celebrate with you!!!

Prepare for the ovation you guys are gonna get when you come back home!! Bring the earplugs!! haha

P.S. -- I met Suppan and Wainwright at a park in Belleville, IL at the end of August. Please tell them the "40-year-old birthday guy" says congratulations and God bless them both!!

babfacem, i was perfectly happy letting them take the bench and give wilson a chance to play in front of his family. wilson hit alot of home runs since he joined the cardinals. he's a great player. it's called nerves and preassure. you get up to bat in that situation and try to be perfect. he wasn't the only one ******* up at bat, and hey! spezio did play! and hey! he struck out! every player but taguchi have had a bad at bat all post season. had taguchi played more he would of also. no ones perfect.

Hey stud!!! I am extremely happy for all of you! What an amazing feeling for you all!! I made sure that I wore my LUCKY Rodriguez jersey that you signed!!! I love it and can't get enough!! I'm hoping that I will see you out soon! I'm sure i'll be at Al's for the games and your other hangouts!!! Hehe! ; )

Love,

Your #1 Fan J-Rod!!!!!

P.S. Kick some tiger ***!!!
